How Audio Cards work
From first invite to the moment they press play — here's exactly what happens.
For the card creator
Create the card
Choose the occasion — birthday, retirement, graduation, wedding, and more. Enter the recipient's name, email, and a card title. The whole setup takes about 2 minutes.
Invite contributors
Add contributors by name and email. Each person gets a unique invite link — they don't need an Echo Lane account to participate. You can invite up to 60 people and choose whether contributors can forward the invite to others.
Review, reorder, and send
As messages come in, you can drag and drop clips into any order. Preview the card exactly as the recipient will see it. Then send immediately or schedule delivery for a specific date — like the morning of their birthday.
While you wait for contributions, your card collects messages in the background. You'll see the card fill up in real time.
For contributors — no account needed
Click the link, record your message
Contributors receive an email with a unique link. They click it, see who the card is for and the occasion, then record a short voice message directly in their browser — phone or computer, no app download required.
Add a photo
After recording, each contributor uploads one photo. This is the image that displays on screen while their voice plays. A candid, a throwback, a selfie — anything that feels right.
Done in 5 minutes
That's it. The contributor's message is automatically added to the card. If forwarding is enabled, they can also invite someone else who should have been included.
When the card is sent, the recipient gets an email with a link. No account. No app. Just press play.
For the recipient — no account needed
They get a link by email
The recipient receives a beautifully simple email with a single button. No login. No signup. Just click.
The card plays like a movie
Each contributor's photo fills the screen while their voice plays. The recipient's name is on screen. Clips play one after another in the order you chose — it builds into something genuinely moving.
They send a thank-you
At the end of the card, the recipient is invited to record a short thank-you message. When they do, everyone who contributed receives it — closing the loop in the most personal way possible.
